A new member of the wolf pack has arrived at Stony Brook Children’s Hospital and needs a name.

We invite all patients of Stony Brook Children’s Hospital — in the hospital and in the community — to enter our naming contest.

Can you help us?

Inspired by Wolfie, Stony Brook University’s beloved mascot, our new friend was created for our patients to bring them smiles, comfort and courage.

How to Enter the Naming Contest

  1. Think of a name that fits our new friend — something kind, brave or full of heart!
  2. Fill out the form, below. Tell us why you chose the name you did – a few words or a short sentence is all we need.
  3. Add your name, age and an email address.
  4. Submit your idea by November 30th.

The winner will receive a plush toy character plus some Stony Brook Children’s Hospital swag.

1. Grant of Rights and Publicity Release

  • Ownership of Submission: By entering, the Participant's parent/guardian irrevocably grants Stony Brook Medicine all rights, title, and interest in the submitted name, including the exclusive, perpetual, and worldwide right to use, reproduce, modify, and display the name for any purpose without further compensation or notification to the Participant or parent/guardian.
  • Publicity Release: The parent/guardian consents to the use of the Participant's first name and first initial of their last name for marketing and promotional purposes, including use on the hospital's website, social media, and other marketing materials. 

2. Contest Rules and Winner Selection

  • No Obligation to Use: The hospital is under no obligation to use the winning name submission. The final decision on the character's name is at the sole discretion of Stony Brook Children's, which may choose a name that was not submitted by any Participant.
  • Multiple Entries of Winning Name: In the event that multiple Participants submit the same winning name, the hospital will award the prize to the Participant whose entry was received first. All decisions by the hospital regarding the selection of the winner are final.
  • Prize Details: The winner will receive the prize as described in the official contest announcement. The prize has no cash value and cannot be exchanged. Any taxes associated with the prize are the sole responsibility of the winner's family. 

3. Privacy and Data

  • Limited Data Collection: Stony Brook Children's will only collect the information reasonably necessary for the Contest.
  • Confidentiality: All submitted information will be treated in accordance with Stony Brook Children's privacy policy and applicable law. The hospital will not use or disclose the Participant's protected personal health information or photographic, video or digital likeness for marketing purposes without separate authorization. 

4. Limitation of Liability

  • No Warranty: Stony Brook Children's and its employees, agents, and affiliates disclaim any liability for damages, losses, or injury resulting from participation in the Contest or the acceptance or use of any prize.
  • Indemnification: The parent/guardian agrees to indemnify and hold harmless Stony Brook Children's against any claims, damages, or expenses arising from their child's participation in the Contest.
