Our New Friend Has a New Name
Meet SCOUT
Thank you for everyone who entered out naming contest. We loved reading all the creative ideas and appreciate your suggestions. It was a difficult decision — we had nearly 150 entries! In the end we chose the name SCOUT for our friend who is the newest member of the Stony Brook Children's Hospital family.
Thank you to Melody B, age 9. After researching wolves she learned that wolf packs have a scout — a brave and kind-hearted member of the pack who keeps others safe.
Scout was selected because the name reflects bravery, kindness and caring — qualities we see every day in the children we serve.
Even if your name wasn’t chosen this time, please know that every entry mattered. Scout is looking forward to being a friend to all the children in our care — and that includes you!
Thank you again for being part of this special contest,
Warmly,
Dr. Milana
