Visit a Patient We believe visits from caring family and friends help children heal. At Stony Brook Children's, parents have 24-hour access to their hospitalized child. For non-family members, general visiting hours are from 11 am to 8:30 pm. Specialized units have different visiting hours. They are:
- Intensive Care (NICU and PICU) - hours vary. Call the Information Desk, (631) 444-7686
- Maternity – 2:00 pm to 8:30 pm
A Few Guidelines: Hospital patients need rest, so we'd like to request that you keep your stay brief.
SHHH (Silent Hospitals Help Healing). Studies show that noise levels directly affect recovery. Loud talking can disturb other patients, so soft voices are appreciated.
Unless a doctor or nurse specifically approves it, visitors should not bring in any food or beverages for patients. Most are on a special diet and need to follow their doctor's orders.
If any medical equipment in your loved one's room needs adjusting, use the call bell and a nurse will respond.
Please note that latex balloons are prohibited throughout the hospital.
To create a healthier environment for all, smoking is not permitted inside buildings or on the grounds of the medical center.
Visitors may use cell phones in the lobby and waiting areas. Cell phone use is not permitted on Intensive Care Units, or in any patient room with patient monitoring equipment in use because of possible interference that cell phones might have on patient monitoring devices.
Locate Us Stony Brook Long Island Children's Hospital is located at 100 Nicolls Road Stony Brook, NY 11794 Directions

If you are bringing your child to the Pediatric Emergency Department, please be aware that we provide free valet parking so parents can remain with their children and not spend valuable time looking for parking. If you choose to park your car yourself, the usual parking fees apply.
