A Wedding In the NICU

When Regina Stoebe unexpectedly gave birth just 29 weeks into her pregnancy, she missed the wedding she and her fiancé, Mike Enrico, had carefully planned. So when Dr. Melissa Peskin-Stolze suggested that Regina and Mike get married right away in the hospital, the NICU and Mother/Baby staff at Stony Brook Medicine immediately went to work.

A nurse on her way in stopped at a party store for craft flowers and balloons. The staff then quickly decorated the NICU and arranged a beautiful bouquet for the bride. A Stony Brook midwife, who is also an officiant, performed the ceremony with staff members as witnesses. And with their beautiful new daughter and flower girl, Isabella Rose, in attendance, Regina and Mike were married on Sunday, June 24.
