Training the Next Generation of Children's Doctors
As part of an academic medical institution and teaching hospital, Stony Brook Children’s offers training programs for the next generation of Pediatricians and Pediatric Specialists.
We offer a Pediatric residency program and a combined Medicine and Pediatrics training program that are uniquely suited for preparing physicians to provide a continuum of care for children with chronic diseases. In addition, we have Pediatric fellowship programs that provide advanced clinical and research training in Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine, Pediatric Gastroenterology, Pediatric Emergency Medicine and Academic General Pediatrics. These programs serve as a pipeline to provide the community with pediatric practitioners, especially important in light of the pediatrician shortages projected for Suffolk County in the near future.
