The pediatric endocrinology division is interested in the effect of insulin on protein metabolism; the effect of insulin on body composition; and the relationship between diabetic control and memory. We are researching ways to preserve beta cell function (the cells that make insulin) in new onset diabetes, and exploring the potential role of IGF-1 in the treatment of cystic fibrosis. A study of autoimmune thyroid disease and celiac disease in children has just been completed.
Pediatric Endocrinology Fellowship Training Program
The pediatric endocrinology division hosts a fellowship program that was recently re-accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME). This program trains pediatricians in endocrinology.
