Girl Scout Daisy Troop Supports Stony Brook Children’s

Eight enthusiastic young ladies from Girl Scout Daisy Troop 1856 helped Stony Brook Children’s make the first day of the new Lake Grove Advanced Pediatric Care office even more special.

These young entrepreneurs sold more than 2500 boxes of cookies, breaking their 1000 box goal! The troop was motivated to use their proceeds for a good cause- brightening the day of children seeking expert pediatric care at our new Lake Grove office.

The Daisy Troop, led by Margaret Kennedy and Cheryl Teague, and their family members met with Laurie Panesar, MD, the Division Chief of Pediatric Cardiology for Stony Brook Children’s, for a gift-giving ceremony. The Daisies were so excited to present a beautiful hand-painted sign and buckets of toys for distribution to patients.

The Troop and their families had the opportunity to learn more about the care provided at Stony Brook Children and ask questions about the new office. Dr. Panesar expressed her gratitude to Troop 1856 stating that “it is such an honor to meet these young ladies and help teach them about the importance of community service at a young age. On behalf of Stony Brook Children’s, I would like to thank the girls and their troop leaders for helping us make the patient experience even better.”
